Michael wrote music and lyrics for the title song of The Cabaret Series’ revue NEVER FAR FROM HOME, with script by Lydia Diamond. Michael’s 10-minute musical THE NUMBERS NEVER LIE, co-written with Wes Savick, was produced by SpeakEasy Theatre Company for the Boston Theater Marathon, May 12, 2013.

On January 21 at Second Stage, Darius de Haas interpreted Michael’s song “Without Your Love” from RUNNING BACK in THE CONCERT hosted by Seth Rudetsky on behalf of the Directory of Contemporary Musical Theatre.

“Two songs stood out for their full-bodied ardor: “Without Your Love,” an out-and-out love song by Michael Wartofsky was fully inhabited by the rich-voiced Darius de Haas.”

Theaterscene.net review, “The Concert, A Celebration of Contemporary Musical Theatre” 2013

“The final section of “Never Far From Home” emphasizes the solid foundation home can provide, and two of the show’s best numbers are found here: “Navigator,” music by Thomas Caruso, lyrics by Michael Cooper, and the title song, “Never Far From Home” by Michael Wartofsky.”
